Attorney Jonathan C. Reiter, whose New York based mass disasters law firm, the Jonathan C. Reiter Law Firm, PLLC specializes in mass disaster injury cases, says that apartment residents are typically not made aware of issues like faulty boiler systems which can lead to building explosions until it is too late. When an apartment explosion occurs, those inside are also restricted to where to go, and limited on the amount of time they have to get to a safer area. Many are not able to get out in time, particularly if their dwelling is located on higher levels of a building as illustrated in the recent case.

Rescue workers were still searching for individuals who may have been trapped under the rubble at the time of the reports. A spokesperson for the firefighters department in Paris has stated that the boiler will be tested for defects, after being taken by police. Mass disasters lawyer Jonathan C. Reiter will continue to follow the story as it develops.
