Joseph Nebrich of Cattaraugus suffered terminal injuries when an 18-wheeler failed to yield to a stop sign in the town of Concord Tuesday evening, November 10, 2009. Police investigators reported to the scene at the intersection of Genesee Road and Springville-Boston Road where the semi-truck traveling east barreled through the stop sign and collided with Joseph’s pickup truck.
Thirty-three year-old Nebrich’s injuries proved fatal at the scene of the crash that occurred around 6 p.m., according to NY State police.
The operator of the 18-wheeler was 22-year-old Daniel Taft, resident of Jasper. He claimed to have not seen the stop sign before the fatal wreck. He reportedly suffered minor injuries. The semi truck drove into the pickup truck that had been heading southbound before the collision.
The police investigation proved that alcohol or drugs had not played a role in this fatal crash. It appeared that Taft failed to see the stop sign before he struck the pickup truck. The speed of the vehicles at the time of the crash was not known. Both sides of the roads were temporarily shut down for hours after the wreck.
