New York, NY–The National Transportation Administration Safety Board (NTSB) www.ntsb.gov investigation report into the July 17, 2008, plane crash at Vandenberg Airport was released. The NTSB found the Flight Angels medical transportation plane crash was due to pilot error during take off.
Harlan Northcott was an 81 year-old pilot who volunteered his flight time and his personal Beechcraft Bonanza airplane for more than 20 years. He was flying 49 year-old Patricia Snyder home after she received cancer treatment at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. Northcott, Snyder and 15 year-old Tyler McLellan died when the plane crashed and burst into flames during take off. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) www.faa.gov confirmed Northcott’s pilot certification, instrument rating, and medical certificate were current and in good standing.
