North Atlantic helicopter crash wreckage recovered

St. John’s fatal chopper fuselage recovered about 50 miles off Canadian coast.

St. John's, N.L.--As reported on Thursday by the Canada Press, two remotely operated vehicles used by the Atlantic Osprey, to recover the helicopter crash wreckage of the 18 victim downed chopper off St. John's, arrived Wednesday. The Canada Transportation Safety Board announced it completed the recovery of significant wreckage items in the North Atlantic.

According to aviation accident investigators, the chopper debris is strewn across the ocean floor 400 feet below sea level, and has been a daunting and slow moving recovery. On Wednesday, the 17 passengers and crew, who died in the chopper accident, and the only survivor were honored in a memorial prayer service at Roman Catholic Basilica Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.
