New York, NY - Veteran New York aviation accident lawyer Jonathan C. Reiter, reports that American Airlines Flight 331 from Miami was transporting 148 passengers when it crash landed at an airport in Jamaica at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2009, according to CNN.
An American Airlines spokesperson stated that the American Airlines Boeing 737 had damage to the fuselage, some cracks in the plane, and the landing gear on one side of the aircraft had fallen apart when the aircraft crash landed. Both engines had sheared away, consistent with the design of the plane.
The large aircraft had departed from Miami International Airport with 148 passengers and 6 crew members on board when the plane hit some negative weather conditions on final approach to Jamaica and overran the airstrip at Norman Manley International Airport and crashed into a fence. There were 91 people on board the downed aircraft, 44 were taken to the local hospitals for treatment. Many passengers were shaken up and traumatized by the crash.
Authorities reported that none of the passengers were critically injured. Jamaican officials stated that most of the passengers transported to the hospital were released after treatment, while 4 passengers stayed overnight in the care of medical officials.
The majority of the passenger's injuries were noted as fractured bones and lacerations and bruising. Aviation Accidents are unexpected and always traumatic for the families of the loved ones on board, who were injured or lost in a crash. Having a New York lawyer who has helped others deal with the highly traumatic and confusing aftermath of an airline accident or with the loss of a loved one because of an aviation accident is important for the victims' remaining families. Many factors involved in a plane crash may result in financial compensation with the help of an experienced and compassionate attorney.
